WORK IN PROGRESS (WRITING/CONCEPT IN DEVELOPMENT)
“Despite the proliferation of discursive sites and fictional selves, however, the phantom of a site as an actual place remains, and our psychic, habitual attachment to places regularly returns as it continues to inform our sense of identity. This persistent, perhaps secret adherence to the actuality of places (in memory, in longing) may not be a lack of theoretical sophistication but a means of survival.”

An Introduction:
Temporary-ness, ephemerality, transience, impermanence, the ‘For Nows'. The passage of time as a phenomenon/a driving force of fear is no new thing. Time moves; we are scared. To clarify, neither my work nor my relations with time are concerned with an existential questioning/absence of meaning. I’ve seen and felt far too much love, community, and belonging to live that way — I’ve tasted it. However, the fears that I have perennially danced and worked alongside have to do with the fleeting of that love, an inspecting of the workings that inhibit, sever, pervert, and pacify that love.
I come here angry and resentful, but most of all curious and desperate to understand.

Another track of depth, me with all my past attempts”

“The globe shrinks for those who own it; for the displaced or the dispossessed, the migrant or refugee, no distance is more awesome than the few feet across borders or frontiers.”

I worry and contemplate over the idea of home... of community. Every time I'm relocated I find the worry grows stronger. Where do I go in a reality where friendships are four year commitments and where family beyond the immediate is 6,500 miles and many resentments away?
